Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman met with Ukrainian and Russian ambassadors on Thursday, extending solidarity and support to the former and telling the latter to stop Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Grlić Radman first received Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Kyrylych.
"On behalf of the government, I expressed solidarity and Croatia's commitment when it comes to Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence within internationally recognised borders," he said.
Croatia will try to help in all forms of technical and humanitarian assistance, he added. "We survived a war. We know what our suffering was like."
Grlić Radman also met with Russian Ambassador Andrey Nesterenko and strongly condemned the recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk entities.
"That's a glaring violation of international law and the Minsk agreements," the minister said, adding that Croatia is calling on Russia to return to negotiations within the Normandy Format and the trilateral contact group.
He asked Nesterenko to convey to President Vladimir Putin the message "to stop this invasion."
Russia is a permanent member of the Security Council and has a big responsibility when it comes to the UN Charter, which prohibits war, the minister said.
Croatia is expressing big concern because this is an attack on international law and jeopardises the world order, he added.
