On July 25 and 26, 2019, Ambassador Refik Šabanović officially visited Almaty, where among other things he met Mayor Bakhytzhan Sagintayev. During the meeting, the Ambassador outlined the possibilities of economic cooperation, and the Mayor highlighted the priority of the city of Almaty for cooperation in fields of information technology, tourism, construction, sports, education, health care, etc. On the same day, the Ambassador met with the Head of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Almaty, Mr. Erlan Iskakov and the UNHCR Representative for Central Asia, Ms. Yasuko Odo, who spoke about the difficulties of refugees and stateless persons in this region. Until the end of the visit, Ambassador Šabanović also met with the Secretary General of the Ski Association of Kazakhstan Mr. Askar Valiyev, Deputy Director of the VFS Global Visa Application Center for Kazakhstan, Ms. Assel Menghazy, Director of Aviation Marketing of Almaty Airport Mr. Abdul Kussayev, representatives of Croatian companies and Croatian citizens working in Kazakhstan, and others. The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Yerkin Israilov was present at all the meetings.
