After the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia officially opened in November 2018, the first celebration of the Croatian Statehood Day in Kazakhstan was held on June 25, in the garden of the Rixos Hotel in Nur-Sultan. About 120 guests took part in the celebration, namely; representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, members of the Parliament, government officials, entrepreneurs, Croatian citizens and other guests. The celebration was officially opened by Ambassador Refik Šabanović and Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Roman Vasilenko. In their speeches, they both emphasized friendly relations between the two countries and expressed optimism about the further development of overall bilateral relations, especially in the field of economy. The celebration was supported by three Croatian companies (Seven IT, Podravka and t.Testament Winery), that provided financial means and donated their products. The Croatian company “t.Testament Winery” donated wines that were served to the guests. During the celebration, promotional videos were played on the screens, including the ones from the sponsors and the Croatian National Tourist Board videos: “Croatia Full of Life” and “Croatia Full of Excellent Players”. Outgoing guests were presented with gift bags containing products and recipes of the Croatian company “Podravka”, that also provided the hostess for the occasion. The guests were encouraged to take promotional materials from the Croatian tourist board, that were available at the reception desk.
