LETTER OF GUARANTEE

1. If a foreigner comes for a private visit, at the invitation of a private person, as proof of the purpose of stay, he encloses a Letter of Guarantee for a foreign private person, which is filled out by a guarantor - a private person from Croatia. The guarantor can be a Croatian citizen or a foreigner who has been granted residence in Croatia, and who earns income or has funds in Croatia.
 
Along with the letter of guarantee, the guarantor shall enclose proof of a permanent source of income (salary certificate, pension certificate) in the last three months or appropriate proof of possession of funds in the bank. The guarantor is obliged to certify his signature on the letter of guarantee with a notary public.
 
In case the guarantor is also present when applying for the visa, the signature on the letter of guarantee can be verified in:
• Embassy, ??if the guarantor is a Croatian citizen, or
• with the competent authority of the receiving state, if the guarantor is a foreigner.
 
The embassy retains the original letter of guarantee. The applicant is given a copy of the letter of guarantee so that he can, at the request of the body responsible for state border control, present proof of the purpose of his stay in Croatia.
 
2. If the alien comes for a business visit, at the invitation of the legal entity, when submitting the application, as proof of the purpose of residence, he encloses a Letter of Guarantee for the alien legal entity, filled in by the guarantor - a legal entity from Croatia.
 
Along with the letter of guarantee, the guarantor encloses proof of liquidity (voucher 1 or voucher 2 or a certificate from the commercial court that no liquidation proceedings have been initiated, etc.).
 
The letter of guarantee must be certified by the official stamp and signature of the person authorized to represent. The embassy / consulate retains the original letter of guarantee. The applicant is given a copy of the letter of guarantee so that he can, at the request of the body responsible for state border control, present proof of the purpose of his stay in Croatia.
 
3. Depositing of the letter of guarantee at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs
Croatian legal and private persons may also deposit the original letter of guarantee at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
In that case, it is necessary to pay the prescribed administrative fee of HRK 140.00, according to Tariff No. 78a of the Law on Administrative Fees:

The original of the signed and certified letter of guarantee must be accompanied by:
• proof of the guarantor's liquidity,
• proof of paid administrative fee,
• an indication in which the invited person will submit a visa application to the Croatian embassy / consulate.

NOTE: all fields must be legibly filled in the letter of guarantee. Please pay special attention to filling in the section "Costs arising from the stay of the visitor shall be borne by…" in which it should be clearly indicated which costs are borne by the guarantor and which by the invited person.
