Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman participated in the marking of the Croatian Diplomacy Day, organized by the Croatian Diplomatic Club.

The minister said that Blessed Alojzije Stepinac should be an example of how to love Croatia and be ready to sacrifice oneself.

Grlić Radman underscored the historical connection of Croats with the Catholic Church, stressing that Zagreb Archbishop Alojzije Stepinac did not accept the offer of the Yugoslav communist government to establish a national church but showed loyalty to the Vatican.

That is why he became "a victim of a Yugo-communist show trial", Grlić Radman said.

"Let him be an example of how we should sacrifice ourselves, be ready to make sacrifices and love our homeland Croatia," the foreign minister said.

He also underscored that Croats in Yugoslavia "to an extent lived in slavery."

"They didn't have their own state. They couldn't say their word because saying the word Croat meant danger," he said.
