Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman appeared on the Croatian National Television News (Dnevnik), commenting among other things relations with the neighbours.

Concerning the KFOR issue, Grlić Radman said that Serbia should accept the geopolitical reality.

“Croatia is discussing the deployment of its troops with its partners, allies within NATO. Serbia is not a partner there. Croatia has recognized Kosovo’s international sovereignty. While in Kosovo, I visited the 34th Croatian Contingent, which has received nothing but praise. I spoke with their commander, an Italian general. They are one of the best units that is contributing to the peace and stability in the region. Vučić’s statements reveal that, even 30 years later, Serbia is not aware that we are not a part of SFRY anymore – Croatia is a member state of the EU and NATO. If we recall Vučić’s statements of March 1995, when he proclaimed that Glina will never be Croatian, then that speaks volumes,” the minister said.

Asked to comment on the legal status of the Croat minority in Serbia, Grlić Radman said the view was not favourable.

“We have given Serbia a lot of chances during all these years, but Croatia has reached the end of the rope. On 10 May in Brussels, we will discuss the Western Balkans and its European perspective. Croatia is a subject here and we will discuss all of the Western Balkan countries. To give authenticity and legitimacy to my intervention, I have visited all of these countries. I was pleasantly surprised by Kosovar officials, who are pro-European and who spoke in concrete terms about Kosovo’s future. Croatia is pushing for the liberalization of the visa regime, which we believe will facilitate the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade,” the minister said.
