State Secretary Matušić participates in ministerial meeting of US-Adriatic Charter Partnership Commission

State Secretary for Political Affairs Frano Matušić on Wednesday participated in a ministerial videoconference of the Partnership Commission of the US-Adriatic Charter

State Secretary for Political Affairs Frano Matušić on Wednesday participated in a ministerial videoconference of the Partnership Commission of the US-Adriatic Charter, an initiative for Euro-Atlantic cooperation in Southeast Europe.

Member states and observers exchanged views on regional cooperation and security challenges in the Western Balkans during the COVID-19 pandemic. Representatives of member states reflected on the achievements and future of the Charter. They underscored its importance in supporting the Euro-Atlantic integration of Southeast European countries.

Matušić emphasized the importance of NATO enlargement and underlined Croatia’s support for the Euro-Atlantic membership of Southeast European countries as a crucial step towards achieving long-term stability.

Croatia is to preside over the Charter in 2021. As one of priorities, Matušić highlighted building interoperability, readiness and resilience, underscoring the Charter’s potential as one of the most successful regional cooperation formats in Southeast Europe.
