The Croatia-Italy Ministerial Coordinating Committee held its fourth meeting on 30 November 2020, co-chaired by the two countries’ foreign ministers, Gordan Grlić Radman and Luigi Di Maio.
Participating in the work of the committee are a number of ministries. Apart from the traditional participation of the ministries of sea, transport and infrastructure, economy, environment, agriculture, science and education, this year’s meeting also saw representatives of the ministries of interior, health, culture and tourism.
Grlić Radman and Di Maio signed a joint statement on concrete steps to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Ahead of the meeting, individual bilateral talks were held between representatives of all the ministries, including a meeting between the foreign ministers.
The Italian side underlined its support for Croatia’s foreign policy goals, such as entering the Schengen Area and the eurozone, as well as joining the OECD and EuroMed 7.
Special attention was paid to the Adriatic. Aware of the need for its protection and sustainable management, the ministers discussed establishing exclusive economic zones on either side of the Adriatic.
