State Secretary Andreja Metelko-Zgombić on Friday held a video briefing for the diplomatic corps of the EU and European Economic Area (EEA) member states

State Secretary Andreja Metelko-Zgombić on Friday held a video briefing for the diplomatic corps of the EU and European Economic Area (EEA) member states.

Metelko-Zgombić presented the latest data regarding the epidemiological situation in Croatia and the measures in place to curb the coronavirus spread. She said that Croatia had been recognized in Europe and the world as a country that had implemented an efficient system of measures, prevented uncontrolled spreading and contained the pandemic, and now we have instated an epidemiological framework for tourist activities and a safe stay of guests.

The latest data shows that the epidemiological situation in Croatia is still favourable and that tourists have recognized Croatia as a safe destination. Currently, there are some 800,000 tourists spending their holiday in Croatia, mostly from Germany, Slovenia, Poland and Austria.

Metelko-Zgombić informed the diplomatic corps about a working group coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and involving representatives of other relevant bodies, tasked with responding to questions about the epidemiological situation in Croatia and providing accurate data to foreign citizens. She also offered a closer cooperation between health experts from Croatia and the EU/EEA for the purposes of a better exchange of information and called for allowing unrestricted visits to Croatia as a safe tourist destination.
