Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman at the government’s first meeting presented the Report on the Activities and Results of the Croatian Council of the EU Presidency.

The slogan, “A Strong Europe in a World Full of Challenges”, predicted the circumstances of Croatia’s presidency. In unprecedented conditions, Croatia has successfully completed the task of chairing the Council. Through interdepartmental coordination, we have responded to both the expected and the unexpected challenges.

“We are proud to say that we have successfully adapted to the crisis mode, fully ensuring the continuity and efficiency of the Council’s work. We have had the first digital presidency,” Grlić Radman said, highlighting the presidency’s achievements: the setting up of joint crisis response mechanisms; the decision to launch accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia; Zagreb Summit and the adoption of the Zagreb Declaration; the opening of last negotiating chapter with Montenegro; orderly Brexit; agreement on the Council’s position on the Conference on the Future of Europe; the Eastern Partnership Summit and the adoption of the conclusions on the initiative's policy post-2020; progress in the implementation of the EU Strategic Agenda in a number of areas.

The Report outlines the numerous activities and achievements of all 10 configurations of the Council, resulting in the adoption of 33 legal acts, 27 trialogues and 54 Council’s conclusions.

"Through joint efforts we have presented Croatia as a reliable, brave and innovative EU member state, able to respond even to the biggest challenges of this unique mission. We came out of the presidency stronger, with renewed awareness that we can do anything when we’re committed to our goals and act in unison,” concluded the minister in his address.
