State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić participated in the first videoconference of European affairs ministers under the German presidency in the General Affairs Council configuration.
The German presidency presented its priorities for the next six months. The ministers wished Germany and the new Trio success in the period ahead. Metelko-Zgombić applauded the joint fight against the coronavirus pandemic as well as its social and economic effects as part of Germany’s priorities.
Ahead of the European Council meeting, the ministers exchanged views on the proposal for the MFF and the recovery package. As talks are entering the crucial stage, Metelko-Zgombić stressed that the member states should strive for a joint response that matched the level of this challenge.
"Only a joint and strong European response can offer each member state conditions for economic and social recovery and growth, as well as make the Union stronger and more resilient,” the state secretary said.
