At the initiative of France, Spain and the EU, an informal videoconference was held 10 July 2020 between the foreign ministers of the EU, Latin America and the Caribbean, and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. Participating in the meeting was State Secretary for Political Affairs Zdravka Bušić.
The meeting saw the adoption of a joint declaration. Ministers and their representatives paid their respects to the victims of COVID-19 and thanked health workers for their selfless care for the sick and curbing the spread of the pandemic.
The participants expressed determination to use this unprecedented health, economic and social crisis to strengthen dialogue between the two big regions. In addition, they underscored the need to expand economic cooperation to reduce the effects of the pandemic.
