State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić on 25 June 2020 participated in a videoconference of the foreign ministers of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) member states. This was the final event of Kosovo’s one-year SEECP chairmanship. The annual meeting of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) was also held the same day.
The topic of the SEECP conference was “Regional Cooperation within SEECP Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic”. The ministers underlined that solidarity and joint action should remain high on the SEECP agenda. They also discussed the European prospects of the SEECP member states and the implementation of reforms.
Croatia underscored its strong support for the EU-integration processes in Southeast European countries. Addressing the conference, Metelko-Zgombić recalled the achievements of the Croatian presidency, notably the decision to launch accession talks with Albania and North Macedonia, as well as the success of the Zagreb Summit, which had confirmed the EU’s commitment to the European journey of the Western Balkan countries and their commitment to European values and reforms.
The annual RCC meeting saw presentation of the 2019-2020 Annual Report and program guidelines for the following 10 years.
These meetings marked the last events of Kosovo’s SEECP chairmanship. On July 1st, the one-year chairmanship will be taken over by Turkey.
