Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Thursday participated in a video conference of EU and Eastern Partnership foreign ministers, chaired by High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

The ministers discussed the future of the strategic partnership and prospects of deepening the cooperation. They underscored that the engagement with the six Eastern Partnership countries remained the Union’s priority, sending messages of solidarity and commitment to the additional strengthening of relations.

The ministers also highlighted the importance of the Team Europe package, which allocated €962 for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and €3 billion in additional macrofinancial assistance.

Addressing the conference, Grlić Radman underlined support for the efforts the six Eastern Partnership countries are investing in reforms. “Their achievements contribute to our security, stability and prosperity as well,” said the minister, emphasizing the need to deepen economic cooperation, invest in youth and connecting and environmental protection projects, and strengthen the ability to respond to crises such as the current pandemic.

“I am especially pleased that this conference took place during the Croatian Presidency, ahead of the June 18 meeting of the leaders of EU member states and the Eastern Partnership countries, which was also one of our Presidency’s priorities,” he said.
