Croatia marks its Diplomacy Day

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday attended an event marking Croatian Diplomacy Day, organised by the Croatian Diplomatic Club

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on Tuesday attended an event marking Croatian Diplomacy Day, organised by the Croatian Diplomatic Club. In his address, he recalled the highlights of Croatian diplomacy in the past three decades.

"Croatian diplomats greatly contributed to Croatia’s independence and its membership of the most important international organizations. That journey was challenging, with numerous obstacles, but today Croatia is chairing the Council of the EU, which is a symbolic pinnacle of its diplomatic achievements,” said the minister, adding that Croatian diplomacy was contributing in a major way to the stability, security and development of Europe and the world.

Grlić Radman emphasized that these achievements had not happened by chance, but were the result of the leadership’s vision and dedicated work by a large number of individuals.

“Croatian diplomats continue to fight with the same vigour to boost Croatia’s international reputation and influence. Every time has its challenges – during Croatia’s Council of the EU presidency, our diplomacy has shown flexibility, agility and rationality amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the biggest international crisis since World War II. Croatian diplomacy will be ready to respond to the crises and challenges ahead of us as well,” said the minister.
