The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, in cooperation with the Croatian Embassy in Vienna, arranged with the relevant state institutions of Austria and local authorities of Tyrol and Vorarlberg the repatriation of Croatian nationals from Austria, most of which where in areas under strict lockdown. A convoy of five buses carrying 82 Croatian nationals arrived in Croatia on Thursday evening. Two Slovenian nationals left the convoy in Slovenia.

To recall, last week the Croatian Embassy in Vienna organized a convoy of six buses and four cars with a total of 111 Croatian nationals, as well as a convoy of six cars with 13 Croatian nationals, while last month 13 Croatian nationals were repatriated in cooperation with Slovenia.

In order to limit the spread of COVID-19, the Austrian Government has placed Tyrol and several areas in Vorarlberg under quarantine, with an even stricter regime of complete isolation imposed in places such as Ischgl, Galtür and St. Anton. Movement and leaving the place of stay required obtaining multiple clearances.

The Ministry would like to thank the Austrian authorities for assisting in the repatriation of 219 Croatian nationals. An additional number of Croatian nationals, after obtaining clearances, left Tyrol and Vorarlberg in their personal vehicles.

Through its network of diplomatic and consular offices, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs will continue the repatriation of Croatian nationals.
