Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 28 February 2020 in Budapest met with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjárto.
The two ministers underscored satisfaction with intensive bilateral relations and cooperation in a number of areas. Croatia and Hungary successfully cooperate cross-border as well, with national minorities representing and important link in the relations.
Apart from bilateral topics, Grlić Radman and Szijjárto discussed items on the Croatian presidency’s agenda, such as the Multiannual Financial Framework and migration. Grlić Radman underlined that Zagreb and Budapest shared the same views on EU enlargement as well. “The continuation of the enlargement policy based on consistent fulfilment of criteria is crucial for the stability and security of Southeast Europe”, he stressed, adding that launching accession talks with North Macedonia and Albania as well as a successful Zagreb Summit were the goals of the Croatian presidency.
After the meeting with Szijjárto, Grlić Radman addressed a conference of Hungarian ambassador, outlining the priorities of Croatia’s EU presidency and the challenges the EU faces, including the Conference on the Future of Europe and the Green Deal.
