Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman 20 February 2020 met with the Minister for Federal, European and International Affairs North Rhine-Westphalia, Stephan Holthoff-Pförtner.

The two officials underscored very good relations between Croatia and North Rhine-Westphalia, emphasizing the contribution of the state’s Croatian community.

Highlighting the importance of cooperation with Germany, Grlić Radman said that boosting economic cooperation with each individual federal state, including North Rhine-Westphalia, was one of Croatia’s priorities.

Grlić Radman outlined the goals of the Croatian Council of the EU presidency, underlining the importance of the enlargement policy for the peace and stability of the European continent. He acquainted Holthoff-Pförtner with the priorities concerning enlargement, adding that Croatia supported the candidate countries on their EU journey. Holthoff-Pförtner expressed support for Croatia’s goals, notably regarding the launch of accession talks with North Macedonia and Albania.  

In addition, Grlić Radman confirmed that Croatia would continue to advocate for the rule of law and the strengthening of dialogue among the EU member states during its presidency.
