FM attends Green Deal conference

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman 28 January in Brussels attended a conference on the implementation of the European Green Deal

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman 28 January in Brussels attended a conference on the implementation of the European Green Deal, hosted by the Executive Vice President-Designate of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans.

Grlić Radman underscored that the Croatian Presidency would give its full contribution to the implementation of the Green Deal. “The Green Deal is in fact our new growth strategy, aimed at transforming the EU into an area of prosperity, whose economic and social development does not necessarily imply large emissions of carbon dioxide,” he said.

The minister underlined that the Green Deal would be a topic of discussion at meetings of various formats during Croatia’s Council of the EU presidency, adding that meeting the goal of climate neutrality by 2050 would not be an easy task and that it was necessary to be careful to leave no one behind.

“We cannot ignore the different circumstances in member states. We are all aware of that. Not all member states are in the same position nor do they have the same capacities to respond to these challenges and that is why we have to act as one, together with the Commission, and leave no country behind,” Grlić Radman emphasized.
