State Secretary Nikolina Brnjac was on a visit to Strasbourg 13-16 January 2020, where in the capacity of the Croatian Government’s delegated official for representing the Council of the EU at the European Parliament (ministre delegue) she attended for the first time during Croatia’s EU presidency a plenary session of the European Parliament.

At this year’s first EP session, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković presented the programme and priorities of Croatia’s EU presidency and responded to MEPs’ questions.

As the Council’s President in Office, Brnjac participated in other discussions on the EP agenda and outlined the Council’s views on the protection of citizens’ rights post-Brexit, Conference on the Future of Europe, rule of law, World War II commemorations and possible irregularities in the utilization of EU funds.

On the fringes of the session, Brnjac signed on behalf of the Council the first joint decisions of 2020.
