Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman 25 October 2019 in Split attended an international conference organized by the Croatian Paneuropean Union on the European Parliament elections, elections ahead of the EU and Croatia's chairmanship of the Council of the EU.

Grlić Radman outlined the chairmanship priorities, underscoring that Croatia, along with protecting the interests of the EU and its citizens, would present itself politically, economically and culturally to the European and world public during that period. We will strengthen Croatia’s interests and position within the EU, additionally promote our tourism and showcase our rich cultural heritage.

“We are proud that Zagreb will host an EU-Western Balkans summit in May 2020, which will mark the 20th anniversary of Zagreb Summit and send a clear message about the importance of revitalizing the EU enlargement policy in a new strategic context, because of all the Zagreb Summit participating countries only Croatia has become a member of the EU,” Grlić Radman underlined.

Chairmanship preparations are going as planned, with great financial and human capacities being invested in all of its aspects. “We all want this ‘generational challenge’ to yield the best possible results and present Croatia as a reliable and efficient country committed to common European values and the wellbeing of all its citizens,” the minister said.

As the envoy of President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Grlić Radman presented President of the International Paneuropean Union Alain Terrenoire with the Order of the Croatian Interlace and President of the German Paneuropean Union Bernd Posselt with the Order of Ante Starčević.
