Co-chaired by State Secretary for European Affairs Andrea Metelko Zgombić and Bavarian State Minister of Food, Agriculture and Forestry Michale Kaniber, the Permanent Croatian-Bavarian Commission held its 33rd meeting on 10 and 11 October 2019 in Zagreb.
The work of the Commission was divided into four groups: 1. Administration, police and justice; 2. Schools, science and culture; 3. Economy and finance; 4. Environment, health, water management, consumer protection and agriculture.
The relevant Croatian and Bavarian representatives verified the status of the implementation of projects agreed on at the Commission’s previous meeting (Munich 2015) and determined the additional modalities of implementation. This defined and strengthened the future framework of Croatia-Bavaria cooperation, which has already proven exceptionally successful.
The participants agreed to boost cooperation on projects in the areas of economy, tourism (notably health tourism), construction, environmental protection, agriculture, education and internal affairs.
Both sides underscored the importance of the large Croatian diaspora in Bavaria for the overall bilateral relations, as well as the large number of Bavarian tourists returning to Croatia each summer. They represent a strong link and add a special touch to the friendly relations between the two countries.
During her stay in Zagreb, Kaniber also held talks with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, Agriculture Minister Marija Vučković and State Secretary Andreja Metelko Zgombić.
