Search for Bourbon Rhode redirected based on EMSA satellite images

The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), which had joined the search for the missing crew of the Bourbon Rhode at the request of the Croatian government, reported today that its satellite images have picked up an object similar in size to a life raft

The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), which had joined the search for the missing crew of the Bourbon Rhode at the request of the Croatian government, reported today that its satellite images have picked up an object similar in size to a life raft.

However, due to technical limitations and time delay after image processing, whether this is really the case can only be confirmed on site.

The object’s coordinates have been sent to France’s CROSS on Martinique, which has redirected all nearby vessels to that location.

Our relevant authorities and diplomatic activities are highly coordinated and are working hard to find the missing seamen, which include Captain Dino Miškić. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs is in close contact with Miškić’s family.

In the afternoon, at the request of Croatian and Ukrainian foreign ministers, the two countries’ ambassadors held talks on the matter with the political secretary at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

They requested that the search for the missing crew be stepped up by bringing in French reconnaissance aircrafts. The Ministry is well aware of the great efforts by the French authorities and relevant institutions in searching for the missing seafarers and is grateful for it.
