Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 29 May 2019 received on official visit the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Josep Borrell Fontelles.
The two officials expressed satisfaction with the very good bilateral relations, underscoring the readiness to strengthen high-level dialogue.
Pejčinović Burić and Borrell talked about headways in the areas of economic cooperation, science and innovation, underlining the potential for further strengthening of cooperation between the two Mediterranean countries.
The two ministers exchanged views on the topical EU matters of mutual interest, including the future of Europe, MFF, Brexit and Croatia’s Council of the EU presidency.
They also discussed Spain’s support for the realization of Croatia’s priorities: joining the Schengen Area, eurozone and OECD. Special attention was attached to Southeast Europe.
Apart from bilateral and European topics, Pejčinović Burić and Borrell also discussed climate change, cooperation within the Council of Europe, as well as Europe’s unified response to the current political and security challenges.
