State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić 28 Februeray 2019 received the State Secretary of North Macedonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Viktor Dimovski.
As the meeting was held ahead of voting on the ratification of the North Macedonia’s NATO Accession Protocol at the Croatian Parliament, both sides expressed satisfaction that Croatia was to be among the first ally countries to ratify it.
Metelko-Zgombić underlined that Croatia was a reliable partner to North Macedonia, continually offering political and technical support along its Euro-Atlantic path. She stressed Croatia would as before remain among the EU member states who strongly support the opening of accession talks with North Macedonia in 2019.
The two officials also discussed the EU enlargement as one of the priorities of Croatia’s Council of the EU presidency in 2020, further intensification of economic relations and succession issues.
