FM attends 55th Munich Security Conference

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 15-17 February 2019 attended the 55th Munich Security Conference (MSC).

This year’s MSC focused on defence cooperation within NATO and the EU, the crisis of multilateralism and the international order, post-Brexit Europe, conflicts in the Black Sea region, arms race control and security situation in Southeast Europe.

On the margins of the MSC, Pejčinović Burić held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zakaliani, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, and Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatskanyan. She also met with Lichtenstein’s Foreign Minister Aurelia Frick, Norwegian Foreign Minister Ina Eriksen Søreide and Danissh Foreign Minister Anders Samuelson. With her counterparts, Pejčinović Burić discussed the advancement of bilateral relations, with an emphasis on the strengthening of economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in multilateral relations and the current global issues.

The Croatian delegation was led by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. As part of the delegation, Pejčinović Burić attended the meetings with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, EU Budget and HR Commissioner Günther Oettinger, European Chief Brexit Negotiator Michael Barnier, Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, and Kosovar Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj.

On the last day of its visit to Munich, the Croatian delegation met with representatives of Croatian expatriates and the Croatian associations from Munich and Bavaria.
