State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić received a delegation of the European Affairs Committee of the Austrian Parliament

State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić received a delegation of the European Affairs Committee of the Austrian Parliament, led by Chairman of the National Council’s Standing Subcommittee on EU Affairs Reinhold Lopatka and Chairman of the Federal Council’s EU Committee Christian Buchmann. The Austrian delegation was on a working visit to the Croatian Parliament. Also attending the meeting with Metelko-Zgombić was Chairman of the European Affairs Committee Ivan Milošević.

The officials discussed the challenges awaiting the EU in the next period, the end of the current institutional cycle and preparations for the upcoming European Parliament elections, all in light of Croatia’s 2020 Council of the EU presidency. The Croatian side presented the dynamic of drafting the Croatian presidency programme, in line with the already adopted Trio Programme and based on Croatia’s national priorities. Both sides underlined some of the more important topics, such as talks on the multiannual financial framework, the impact of Brexit on the future of the Union, migration, enlargement policy and preparations for Croatia’s joining the Schengen Area.
