Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 15 January 2019 met with Canada’s Speaker of the House of Commons, Geoff Regan, who was on an official visit to Croatia.

Discussing bilateral relations, the two officials underlined the importance of cooperation within the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with the aim of further boosting trade. Pejčinović Burić and Regan also talked about cooperation within international forums and dealing with the current global challenges.

Canada was among the first countries to recognize Croatia’s independence 27 years ago. In 2018, the two countries marked 25 years of bilateral relations.

Both countries consider the large Croatian community in Canada as important link with the potential to further advance economic relations.
