FM attends international conference on building democratic security in the Mediterranean

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 6 November 2018 in Dubrovnik attended an international parliamentary conference on building democratic security in the Mediterranean. The conference was organized by the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the Croatian Parliament.

Keynote addresses were delivered by Croatian Parliament Speaker Gordan Jandroković, PACE President Liliane Maury Pasquier, Foreign Minister Marija Pejčinović Burić, head of the Croatian Parliament’s delegation to PACE Sanja Putica and Mayor of Dubrovnik Mato Franković.

Committee of Ministers chair Pejčinović Burić addressed the current challenges in the Mediterranean and their impact on Europe, underlining that cooperation and partnership among the Council’s member states was the best response. She outlined the activities held as part of Croatia’s presidency, in particular those promoting good governance, rule of law, as well as democratic stability and security.  

The conference was attended by members of the PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, PMs and institutional representatives from the Middle East and North Africa, members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, CoE Deputy Secretary General Gabriela Battaini-Dragoni and Venice Commission President Gianni Buquicchio.
