FM Pejčinović Burić meets with European Commissioner Mimica

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 13 April 2018 met with European International Cooperation and Development Commissioner Neven Mimica.

The topic of the meeting was Croatia’s development policy and its complementarity with the goals and activities of the European Union’s development and humanitarian policy. Pejčinović Burić and Mimica underscored the importance of the next multiannual financial framework for the development policy of the EU as the world’s biggest donor, the implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and finding models for a more efficient use of new and small donors’ capacities in the EU’s development policy, as well as the importance of cooperation with the European Commission in informing citizens about development cooperation. They also stressed that it was necessary to encourage stronger inclusion of Croatian companies in projects financed through the EU External Investment Plan.

Pejčinović Burić outlined Croatia’s activities since the adoption of the 2017-2021 National Strategy for Development Cooperation, underlining the importance of including stakeholders from the private sector, civil society and academic community in the EU’s development policy.
