The public consultations on Europe’s future initiative saw official presentation and launching 6 April 2018 at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Zagreb. The dialogue with students and citizens was held by French Minister for Europe Nathalie Loiseau and MFEA State Secretary for European Affairs Andreja Metelko-Zgombić.

The initiative was presented by French President Emmanuel Macron at a meeting of the European Council in December 2017 and entails consultations with citizens on the future of Europe via public discussions and videoconferences from April to October 2018. Participating in the initiative are 27 EU member states, including Croatia. The key messages, as well as concrete proposals gathered through consultations on the national and European level will be published in the fall.

The dialogue on “The Europe of Tomorrow: Give Your Opinion on the Policies that Matter to You” saw 130 odd participants exchanging views on citizens’ taking part in the functioning of the EU. They underlined the importance of promoting European values and holding dialogue with the citizens, as well as their stronger inclusion in creating European policies and future.
