MFEA State Secretary for Political Affairs Zdravka Bušić 15 December 2017 in Sarajevo held political consultations with Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Deputy Foreign Minister Josip Brkić.
As neighbours, Croatia and BiH share a wide range of mutual topics as well as political and economic interests. It is therefore important to maintain a high dynamic of relations with BiH, notably by supporting the country’s Euro-Atlantic processes, stability and security.
Bušić underscored that Croatia had a special responsibility towards BiH as its immediate EU neighbour and a signatory to the Dayton Agreement, as well as due to the fact that Croats are one of three Bosnia and Herzegovina’s constituent nations.
Economic cooperation is crucial for the strengthening of relations and has to be stimulated and widened. In that regard, special attention was paid to continued infrastructural linking, cross-border cooperation, investment climate, as well as cultural and scientific cooperation.
Croatia strongly supports BiH’s Euro-Atlantic path and will continue to offer political, technical and expert assistance. Both sides expressed willingness to carry on with the cooperation in seeking the modalities and mechanisms to solve outstanding issues and underlined the importance of continuing the dialogue and regular bilateral meeting for the two countries’ future relations.
