FM Pejčinović Burić attends OSCE Ministerial Council

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 7 December 2017 in Vienna attended a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council. The meeting focused on the crisis in Ukraine, terrorism and other security challenges within the OSCE’s domain. The ministers also discussed the OSCE’s ability to respond to modern-day security challenges.

In her address, Pejčinović Burić underlined that it was the joint duty of all participating state to maintain peace and stability both internally and among them. In regard to the situation in Ukraine, she stressed the importance of full implementation of the Minsk agreement. She also underscored the significance of the OSCE missions in Southeast Europe and their impact on the region’s stability. Talking about the OSCE mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, she underlined the importance of ensuring equality for all three constituent nations.

On the sidelines of the conference, Pejčinović Burić met with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and held bilateral talks with ministers of Montenegro, Canada, Kazakhstan, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and Ukraine, OSCE secretary general, Holy See state secretary and high commissioner for national minorities.

The conference in Vienna marked the end of Austria’s chairmanship of the OSCE, which will be assumed by Italy.
