Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić attended 7 November 2017 the signing of a deed of donation between the Czech Foreign Ministry and the Alliance of Czechs in Croatia worth EUR 300,000 for the renovation and upgrade of the Czech Elementary School in Daruvar.
Pejčinović Burić welcomed this gesture by which the Czech government had joined the Croatian government in the realisation of the project for which the Croatian side has already allocated EUR 1.2 million. Its completion will contribute to further advancement of the Czech minority status through education of younger generations, which is the best guarantee of preservation of any minority’s language, identity and heritage.
The Croatian government places great importance on the protection of national minority rights and improvement of their status. Underscoring that Czechs in Croatia are the strongest bridge of long-term cooperation between two friendly and partner countries, Pejčinović Burić supported the possibility of signing bilateral agreements between the two governments aimed at supporting minority projects.
