Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 5 September 2017 attended the Bled Strategic Forum. The 12th Forum focused on how to respond to the challenges of our “new reality” and on the key issues of today’s globalized world.
As part of the Forum, Pejčinović Burić participated in an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) participating countries. She welcomed Slovenia’s SEECP presidency, adding that the EU enlargement should remain high on the priority list of the SEECP and the EU itself and reiterating Croatia’s readiness to assist and support the SEECP participating countries going through transition on their path to full-fledged EU membership.
Pejčinović Burić highlighted the importance of continuing the enlargement process at a panel discussion on the EU enlargement policy, stressing that the process’ credibility could be maintained only if candidate and potential candidate countries implemented the required reforms and met the criteria, and that the EU membership prospect, once the conditions are satisfied, was realistic and achievable for all the Southeast European countries.
On the sidelines of the Forum, Pejčinović Burić held a series of bilateral talks.
