State Secretary for Political Affairs Zdravka Bušić and Chilean Deputy Foreign Minister Edgardo Riveros Marín led the 8th Croatia-Chile political consultations, held 28 August 2017 in Zagreb.
The meeting reviewed the relations between Croatia and Chile in the political, economic, academic and cultural area and underlined the importance of Croatian Chileans, whose contribution to the various aspects of Chile’s public, political and social life is widely acknowledged.
Opinions were exchanged about a number of multilateral and global issues as well as the current situation in the respective regions.
The Croatian side stressed Chile’s support for Croatia’s OECD accession, while the Chilean side noted Croatia’s support for the upgrade of the EU-Chile Association Agreement.
Marín also held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović-Burić, who expressed satisfaction with the development of the two countries’ relations since Chile’s recognition of Croatia and the establishment of diplomatic relations 25 years ago.
