Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić delivered an address at a reception in Banski dvori on the occasion of a conference of ambassadors, consuls general and chargés d'affaires in Croatia.
“It gives me great pleasure and honour to welcome you all on this occasion. This conference is not the first of its kind, but this is the first time that it is being attended, alongside the Croatian president, parliament speaker and prime minister, by other members of government and representatives of different institutions.
At this time we are faced with increasingly complex and multidimensional challenges in the European, neighbourhood and global context. Challenges such as Brexit, migrations and security threats know no borders and demand of all of us a new way of thinking and responding, but it also opens up new possibilities.
Therefore, this conference will discuss Croatia’s positioning as well as the best way to promote national foreign-policy and economic priorities, with emphasis on the current security challenges, the synergy of culture, education and diplomacy, as well as ties with the Croats abroad.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our colleagues, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Croatia, for their contribution during the past years to deepening the understanding and advancing all forms of cooperation between your countries and organizations and the Republic of Croatia."
