Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejčinović Burić 20 July 2017 held talks with Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobuo Kishi.
Both officials expressed satisfaction with a high degree of cooperation between the two countries as a prerequisite for the further development of bilateral relations in areas of joint interest. Croatia perceives Japan as an important partner in Asia and both countries advocate the rule of law as well as the respect for democratic rights and freedoms and are also committed to building sustainable economies alongside a high level of environmental protection. Pejčinović Burić thanked Japan for cooperation on joint projects in the last 20-odd years and called on Japanese investors to find their interest in continuing to do business in Croatia.
