State Secretary Marija Pejčinović Burić attended a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council in development configuration, held 19 May in Brussels. The ministers discussed migrations and humanitarian crises, with Croatia stressing the importance of understanding the root causes of conflict. In regard to future relations between the EU and the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries after the expiry of the Cotonou Agreement, Croatia underscored the need to establish a modern partnership based on the exchange of know-how. Other topics included the adoption of a new European consensus on development and implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda, with emphasis on strengthening the UN-EU partnership.
