Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miro Kovač met 8 March 2016 with his Bosnian counterpart Igor Crnadak, who is on a two-day official visit to Croatia as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency delegation consisting of Dragan Čović, Bakir Izetbegović and Mladen Ivanić. The meeting was held in President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović’s office
“After my inaugural visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, today I once again had the pleasure to meet with FM Crnadak. It is a confirmation of our agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation as immediate neighbours. Our talks are proof of Croatia’s foreign policy continuity towards Bosnia and Herzegovina as a stable country in which all three constituent nations are equal,” Kovač said.
As a party to the Dayton Agreement, Croatia has a special responsibility towards Bosnia and wants to actively support its EU membership. Bosnia will have a reliable partner in Croatia as regards implementing the reforms necessary to achieve that goal. Croats in Bosnia live together with their friends Bosniaks and Serbs as a constituent and equal nation, and the recent membership application is an important step towards solidifying the country as such.
The talks also focused on the upcoming signing of the European Partnership Agreement, which should offer a framework for future support to Bosnia in its first steps following the membership application. The officials also talked about holding a joint session between the two governments in the near future.
