Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miro Kovač met 7 March 2016 with Mufti Aziz Hasanović, head of the Islamic Community in Croatia.
The two officials agreed that the cooperation between the Islamic Community with Croatian institutions and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs was solid. Hasanović informed Kovač that the 100th anniversary of the recognition of Islam in Croatia would be commemorated 27 April in the Croatian parliament. The 100th anniversary of the legal and institutional recognition of Islam is to be marked in all the cities and Islamic communities across the country. Hasanović said that the occasion would also gather 50 or so representatives of the Islamic communities from Europe and invited Kovač to open the commemoration on 26 April.
Kovač and Hasanović also discussed future cooperation between the Islamic Community and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
