MFEA delivers note to Slovenia over unlawful putting up of barbed wire fence

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs today lodged a protest note with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Zagreb, reacting to the unlawful putting up of barbed wire fence on Croatia’s territory

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs today lodged a protest note with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Zagreb, reacting to the unlawful putting up of barbed wire fence on Croatia’s territory, this time on the Sveti Urban-Kog border crossing, situated in the border region between the Croatian municipality of Štrigova and the Slovenian municipality of Ormož. This, the note reads, hinders the inhabitants of said border region from crossing the border in accordance with the regime determined by the Agreement on Local Border Traffic and Cooperation.

The note warns Slovenia that it should be aware that such acts imply responsibility for the damage the border region inhabitants incur when their rights are denied.

The ministry applauds the removal of barbed wire from the Prhovec-Godeninci (Kocijan) crossing point and still demands that wire be removed from all other crossing points as well as the removal of wire from Croatian territory.
