(Hina) - Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusić in New York on Tuesday held talks with her Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif with whom she agreed that a business forum would be held at which the two countries' companies would have an opportunity to form cooperation.
"As Iran is opening up, the interest in the Iranian market is rapidly growing and I received a positive response from the Iranian minister. Iran wants to develop economic and friendly relations with Croatia. We agreed that a business forum will be held at which the two countries' companies could discuss business cooperation," said Pusić in New York where she attended a session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Croatia sees great opportunities in the Iranian market, she said, adding that Tehran and Zagreb were to sign several agreements aimed at facilitating the two countries' economic relations. Pusić, however, added that most of the documents regulating Croatia-Iran relations had already been signed.
Pusić and Zarif also talked about resolving the situation in Syria in light of the fact that the international community recognises the role of Iran in finding a solution which would end the war in that country.
"Here, the Iranian foreign minister is one of the central figures, primarily because of the agreement between Iran and the West about the Iranian nuclear programme and Tehran's agreement to a high level of control in exchange for milder sanctions, but also because of the fact that everybody recognises the role of Iran in finding a solution for the war in Syria," the Croatian minister said.
"Iran is making a grand comeback to the international community (...) it is important to what extant Iran is prepared to take part in finding a political solution with the European Union, the United States, Russia and countries in the region," Pusić said.
She and Zarif also talked about the role of Turkey in providing for the existing migrants.
