First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić received today the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elmar Mammadyarov, who was on an official visit to Croatia.
The two ministers talked about bilateral relations, notably the strengthening of economic cooperation in shipbuilding and pharmaceutical industries, infrastructure and energy. Pusić reiterated that the Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline (IAP) was an important project not only in terms of economy but in terms of energy independence as well, in an area that goes beyond Croatia. IAP is an alternative source, route and supplier for all countries of the region and for some of the central European countries.
Pusić and Mammadyarov also discussed the state of affairs in Southeast European countries and the Eastern Partnership countries as well as their relations with the European Union.
Pusić paid an official visit Azerbaijan in October last year, when she met with her counterpart Mammadyarov, President Ilham Aliyev and energy minister.
