Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić wrapped up her official visit to Sofia with talks with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev about Croatian-Bulgarian bilateral relations and joint interests and challenges. “The Balkans needs to be made a good place for doing business,” Plevneliev said, highlighting the importance of infrastructure ties in the region and adding that it was precisely Bulgaria and Croatia who could serve as the best example of cooperation and the standards achieved.

Pusić said that the two countries had a major role in the region and were responsible for its stability and security. “Our people who are studying or working abroad in well-regulated countries are achieving excellent results, so it is up to us to create the same conditions in our own countries,” Pusić said.  She added that her counterpart Daniel Mitov and her had agreed to a coordination and consultations regarding issues of common interest within the EU mechanisms and intended to invite other countries in the region – Greece, Romania and Slovenia, because due to their geographical position they often share the same interests and challenges.

Plevneliev and Pusić also discussed the current situation in the region, notably in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia.
