After official visits to Brazil and Colombia, Fires Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić today began her visit to Chile, where she is to attend the conference "Women in Power and Decision-Making: Making a World of Difference", organised in Santiago by the Chilean government and the UN Women.

The conference will gather women leaders from across the globe, spanning various segments of private and public life. A final document titled “Call for Action” is to be adopted, containing recommendations for a swift implementation of national measures ensuring women equal access to positions of power and decision-making in all spheres of life.

The Croatian foreign minister will participate in today’s panel on “Lessons from 20 Years of Leadership”, at which she is to address Croatia’s experiences, legal framework as well as international-scale development projects and initiatives, from the projects in Afghanistan (carpet weaving, midwifery school) to the summits “Women's Economic Empowerment for Peacebuilding” and “Gender Dimension of Sustainable Development within the Context of Post-Conflict Recovery", as well as the active role in the initiative to prevent wartime sexual violence.

Pusić will also hold separate talks with Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, Foreign Minister Heraldo Munoz Valenzuela et al on the fringes of the conference.
