Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Batistić is attending the 4th Euro-African Ministerial Conference on Migration and Development, held 27 and 28 in Rome and chaired by Italy. Also attending the conference is Assistant Home Affairs Minister Ines Krajčak.
The conference is gathering foreign and home affairs ministers of the Rabat and Khartoum Process participating countries and aims to define the strategic framework for 2015-2017. Croatia is advocating intensifying the EU-Africa dialogue on preventing the cause and negative effects of migration. Furthermore, the EU and the African countries should find an effective way to jointly act during extraordinary humanitarian crises.
Given its own experience, Croatia also advocates an effective approach in dealing with the issue of refugees and displaced persons, with an emphasis on the specific needs of women and children.
