Pusić and Hamáček push for intensified EU affairs cooperation

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić met with Czech Chamber of Deputies Chairman Jan Hamáček, who is on a two-day official visit to Zagreb

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Vesna Pusić met with Czech Chamber of Deputies Chairman Jan Hamáček, who is on a two-day official visit to Zagreb.

The two officials said there were prospects of further intensifying cooperation in the EU areas of joint interest, notably energy and transport, as well as a great potential to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation. Hamáček thanked for Croatia’s constructive approach to the Czech minority in Croatia. President of the Parliamentary Czech-Croatian Friendship Group and Deputy Chairman of the Budget Committee Jaroslav Klaška handed Pusić the Czech Government’s Decision on allocating EUR 619,000 to the Croatian community in the Czech Republic, intended for the reconstruction of Croatian Home in the village of Jevišovci, the future site of a homeland museum and documentation centre of the Moravian Croats. Pusić expressed gratitude for this decision, the results of several years of negotiations and efforts by the MPs, promising to visit the Croatian Home.

Hamáček said that the EU enlargement to the countries of the Western Balkans was in his country’s interest, adding that it was important to maintain and support the prospect of their membership. Pusić underlined that that perspective was crucial for the stability, security and prosperity of the region, as well as for the social transformation and strengthening of democratic standards in its countries.
