The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs together with the University of Rijeka and the Centre for Advanced Academic Studies of Southeast Europe (CAAS SEE) is organizing an international conference “(New) Challenges for Europe in Times of Change/Knowledge – Tool for a Better Europe”, to be held October 20th and 21st in Rijeka (the university campus, Trsat).
The conference will discuss topical issues and challenges facing Europe, as well as the possible scenarios for the future of the European projects in economic, financial, social and political context. The conference will also try to find ways to increase the knowledge about European processes, both within the EU and outside, offer a new model of educational programmes at the University of Rijeka and present an international programme of interdisciplinary postgraduate European studies. The studies present an important contribution to Croatia’s successful EU membership as well as to the Euro-integration process as a whole.
On Tuesday, October 21st, a video message by President Ivo Josipović will be played, while the conference will see the attendance of Foreign Minister Vesna Pusić, Minister of Science, Education and Sports Vedran Mornar, Rijeka Mayor Vojko Obersnel, Head of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Zlatko Komadina, Rector of the Rijeka University Pero Lučin, President of the Florence Institute of European Studies Joseph H. H. Weiler, as well as representatives of the academic community, diplomatic corps, businesses and civil society.
