Ambassador Vladimir Drobnjak, Croatia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, and Wilfred Emvula, Namibia’s Permanent Representative, have been appointed co-chairs of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Revitalization of the UN General Assembly during its 69th session.
Participating in the Working Group’s activities are all the UN member states, who are trying to identify the ways to strengthen the role, authority and efficiency of the UNGA. The Working Group’s annual report, apart from assessing the efficiency of the adopted resolutions, also contains recommendations from four important revitalization areas: the GA role and authority; work methods; electing and appointing the secretary general and other high-ranking officials; strengthening the institutional memory of the Office of the GA President.
The co-chairs were appointed in accordance with his authority the General Assembly President, Sam Kutes.
